Sri Lanka to host a familiarization tour for 300 Chinese tourism operators
 

Sept 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Tourism Promotion Bureau announced that plans are afoot to invite 300 Chinese tour operators on a familiarization tour in the island.
Sri Lanka which is looking for alternatives to the traditional high end tourism market has targeted to attract 250,000 Chinese tourists to the country by the year 2016.
The target is highly ambitious compared to the present arrivals of Chinese tourists to the island which is around 25,000 per year.
However, so far this year 24,306 tourists arrived from China which is a74.3 percent increase from the previous year.
Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development is slated to back the tour, the Tourism Promotion Bureau says
